Irving's Foot Still Needs Three Months To Fully Heal

Sep 26, 2011 11:58 AM

The right foot injury Kyrie Irving suffered during the early part of his freshman season at Duke won't be completely healed for another three months.

Irving, who did not train for two months after the draft to rest the foot, said he felt internal pressure to return in March to play for the Blue Devils in the NCAA Tournament.

"I could have waited a little longer (but) I wanted to play with my teammates," Irving said.

He said he's experiencing no pain in his foot.

Duke, Ohio State, UCLA Make Top-3 For Class Of 2012's Tony Parker

Sep 14, 2011 10:55 AM

Duke, Ohio State and UCLA appear to comprise the final three college choices for big man Tony Parker out of Georgia.

Memphis and Georgetown apparently have been eliminated.

Parker is a 6-foot-9, 270-pound power forward ranked in the top-25 from the class of 2012. Parker had an outstanding Nike Global Challenge tournament in August.

“I think it’s smart that Georgia Tech and Georgia are still recruiting Tony,” Miller Grove basketball coach Sharman White told the AJC. “I wouldn’t give up. He’s a hometown guy. When you look at it, Georgia Tech and Georgia aren’t losing that much in time or money by checking on Tony. It’s not like they have to fly out to California to see him. He’s in their backyard. I think it’s smart for them to keep recruiting Tony because you never know how things turn out.”

Julius Randle To Visit Texas, Duke, Baylor, Oklahoma, TCU, Kansas, Ohio State

Sep 7, 2011 11:08 AM

Julius Randle recently spoke about his college visits as he weights his choices. Randle is beginning his junior year in high school.

"I talked to coach (Russell) Springmann at Texas recently about what Kevin Durant said about starting his “Julius Randle to Texas” campaign, which was pretty cool," wrote Randle. "So we talked about that and talked about me getting up there for a visit soon. I haven’t been there since my freshman year so I’m thinking about going to the football game against Oklahoma State.

"I'm definitely planning on going to Duke for Midnight Madness for sure. I talked to Baylor and Oklahoma and told them I’d be visiting. Also, I want to go to Texas Christian for their game against SMU.

"Recently, I decided that I’ll be going to Kansas for the Legends game on October 24 and I spoke with Ohio State last week about visiting for a football game because I know that will be a really fun experience."
